Attentive counselling is committed to protecting your personal data and complying with the of terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy notice explains how I look after your personal data when you visit my website or communicate with me via phone or email.
I process personal data solely in order to provide psychotherapeutic counselling services. The purpose of this statement is is to let you know what personal information I collect and hold and why I collect this this data and how long it is kept.
Information about you:
I collect personal information from you when you enquiry about my counselling and therapy services in order to set up initial appointment. This includes contact details, your availability, and other relevant personal information.
Once a client finishes counselling, all data regarding their counselling is stored securely 5 years, in accordance with my insurance policy and then destroyed securely.
Your personal information will be used in accordance with the provision of therapy. I will not share your personal details with any other person or organization without your knowledge and permission, unless there is a legal requirement to do so, if there is a child or adult safeguarding issue, or a perceived risk of harm.
Your address, email and telephone number will be kept for contact purposes for the duration of the counselling sessions. I keep brief anonymized notes for each session, which will not include personal identifying information about you. These notes are solely for the purpose of your therapy. Personal contact information is filed separately from any notes. Any personal contact information stored electronically is password protected and any paper notes are securely stored. All notes and records will be kept 5 years and then destroyed securely as stipulated by my insurance.
